Atlanta Gas Light Company and Teamsters Union Local 528 has ratified a new two-and-a-half year contract for the utility's bargaining unit employees. The contract is retroactive to September 25, 2000 and will expire on March 23, 2003.

"We are very pleased with the outcome of the negotiations and applaud the excellent work of the negotiating team from the company and the union," said Isaac Blythers, Vice President of Operations, Atlanta Gas Light Company. "This is a win-win contract for both the utility and the union."

  Highlights of the new contract include:

  *  four percent wage increase for all union members in the first year;
  *  an insurance program that matches the insurance program available to
     non-bargaining unit employees;
  *  the availability of more shifts for employees and company to choose on
     a location-by-location basis; and
  *  the addition of an appliance service representative job classification.
