Atlanta Gas Light Company introduced a new service this week designed to provide metro Atlanta homeowners with reliable and professional repair services for their natural gas appliances.

"Although we have provided appliance repair in the past, we now have specially trained appliance service representatives (ASRs) who are knowledgeable about the diagnosis and repair of natural gas appliances such as stoves, water heaters, dryers and space heaters," said Jim Murphy, manager of repair services for Atlanta Gas Light. "In addition, when a customer call comes in, our dedicated customer service representatives will help diagnose problems. This saves the customer time and money because the ASR is dispatched already understanding the issues and has the correct tools and parts on-hand needed to fix the problem on the first trip."

The appliance repair service is initially available to all homeowners in the metro Atlanta area by calling 770-994-1946. There is a flat fee of $65 for diagnosing the problem, and repair is $60 for the first 30 minutes and $20 for each additional 15-minute increment.

Plans are in place to expand the repair service to the commercial sector, and the company is currently conducting research to determine the best structure for the program. In the meantime, businesses needing gas appliance repair can call 770-994-1946.
