AGL Resources, parent company of Virginia Natural Gas, Inc. (VNG), has named Atlanta Gas Light Company (AGLC) executive Ralph Cleveland as VNG's new Vice President of Operations and Engineering. In his new role, Cleveland will be responsible for all distribution operations and engineering as well as customer service, field service and transmission pipeline operations. He will be responsible for more than 300 employees of VNG's 400-employee workforce.

Cleveland, a native of Macon, has served AGLC most recently as head of the company's Savannah operations. He has been with the company for more than a year and prior to joining AGLC, worked in the petroleum industry for more than 15 years. The company's Savannah office was recently recognized as AGLC's number one operation for overall improvement during the past year. "Ralph's proven track record during sixteen years in the energy business has prepared him well to lead our operation," said Hank Linginfelter, President and CEO of VNG. "We are pleased to have someone with his leadership ability and experience join our team."

Cleveland earned a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from Georgia Tech, completed post graduate studies in mechanical engineering at Rice University in Houston and received his Master of Business Administration from Tulane University in New Orleans. He replaces Francis J. Corbett who is leaving VNG to pursue other opportunities following sixteen years of service to the company.
