WHEN: Saturday, April 28, 2001 8:30 a.m. until approximately 3:00 p.m. Photo opportunity at 11:00 a.m. WHO: Vine City Resident, Luther Byse - 73 Atlanta City Councilmember, Michael Bond, District 3 AGL Resources Special Assistant to CEO, Darryl Hicks Atlanta Gas Light Company V-Force Volunteers WHAT: Volunteers will be participating in one of the largest rebuilding efforts to repair one of 30-40 homes in the Washington Park, Washington Heights and Vine City communities. In Vine City, activities include: making Mr. Byses' home more energy efficient through the installation of vapor barrier underneath the house on the floor of the crawl-space, insulating the floor of the home (R-13 fiberglass insulation); installing blown cellulose insulation in the attic (bringing the R-value in the attic up to a R-30 rating). In addition, volunteers will install an energy-efficient natural gas water heater; install weather-stripping and door sweeps around all exterior doors; new smoke detectors and a carbon-monoxide detector. Volunteers also will provide assistance with house painting, plastering, and gardening and overall yard beautification/enhancement. National Rebuilding Day focuses on an estimated 7,500 homes and 400 community-based projects across the country that involve Christmas in April volunteers. Photo opportunity.
