Atlanta Gas Light Company (AGLC) and Publix Super Markets have joined forces in promoting education -- educating Georgia consumers about the benefits of grilling and local area students about the Junior Achievement program. "Get Fired Up," the joint promotion, runs throughout the month of June.

"There are natural synergies between Atlanta Gas Light Company and Publix Super Markets when it comes to grilling," said William Peeples, Vice President, Market Development for the company. "Customers rely on our company to provide excellent natural gas products and appliances, like grills, and they rely on Publix Super Markets to provide top quality beef, chicken and other food products to help them enjoy the meals prepared on their grills. Our joint promotion encourages customers to take advantage of the value both companies provide to have a summer filled with grilling, food and fun."

Founded in 1943, Junior Achievement of Georgia's primary mission is to ensure that every child in America will gain a fundamental understanding of the free enterprise system. In addition, the organization educates and inspires young people in grades K-12 to value free enterprise, business and economics to improve the quality of their lives.

A key component of the "Get Fired Up" promotion is the Super Saturdays held at key Publix Super Markets locations. Each event includes grilling demonstrations, live radio remotes and drawings for prizes. In addition, grilled hamburgers and hotdogs, donated by Publix Super Markets, will be available for sale and all proceeds will go to Junior Achievement. The Super Saturday schedule is as follows:

Another component of the "Get Fired Up" program is the Grand Slam Grilling Sweepstakes. Consumers can obtain sweepstakes entry forms at 109 Publix Super Markets stores throughout Georgia or they can go to the "Grill Master" section of AtlantaGasLight.com and enter the sweepstakes online. Four winners will receive a prize package that includes a natural gas grill (values range from $1,000-3,000), a Publix Super Markets gift certificate (valued at $150.00- $300.00), Braves tickets and other prizes. A fifth winner will receive a VIP Braves party for 25 people. Additional sponsors of the "Get Fired Up" program include Broilmaster, FireMagic, the Braves, AM 750 WSB and Cook's Warehouse.
