AGL Networks, LLC has begun construction on its first metropolitan fiber network in Atlanta. The network will consist of a series of eight conduits that total 77 miles in length, or the equivalent of 616 conduit miles and will serve critical points of contact within Atlanta's Central Business District, as well as areas north of the city such as Buckhead, Galleria and Sandy Springs. Some dark (unlit) fiber may be available for lease as part of the project. "Given the challenges of building in the congested urban corridors of Atlanta, leasing of essential components can provide a significant benefit to telecommunications companies looking to offer high-speed services in metro Atlanta. They can forgo the investment of time and capital to build a network from scratch," said Eric Martinez, Vice President of Corporate Development for AGL Networks. "Telecommunications companies that lease from AGL Networks will benefit from our 150 years of experience in installing and maintaining infrastructure," Martinez commented. "We're an Atlanta company that cares about not only meeting the growing demands for telecommunication services, but also minimizing traffic disruptions and ensuring the highest operational standards."
