Atlanta Gas Light Welcomes NGVAmerica Conference & Expo to Atlanta
Hundreds of industry experts expected to attend national conference Nov. 18 - 21

ATLANTA - Nov. 14, 2013 - Fleet owners who are looking for a reason to switch to natural gas vehicles (NGVs) need not look any further. Beginning Nov. 18 - 21, Atlanta Gas Light will welcome natural gas aficionados from all over the United States to the North American Natural Gas Vehicles Conference & Expo (NGVAmerica). Nearly 1,000 industry experts will congregate at the Georgia World Congress Center to discuss "Transportation Fuel for a Better Bottom Line" and address the future of alternative fuels and how each participant has a stake in the success of the NGV industry.

"We are very excited about having this year's conference in Atlanta," said Richard Kolodziej, president of NGVAmerica. "Georgia is becoming one of the fastest-growing NGV markets. In fact the entire Southeast is becoming a NGV region, and we expect record crowds not only at the conference but in the exhibit halls."

"Atlanta Gas Light is proud to have industry leaders come to the great city of Atlanta where there has been a concerted effort to make natural gas vehicles a permanent part of the landscape for commercial businesses and consumer transportation," said Hank Linginfelter, executive vice president of Distribution Operations, AGL Resources.  "We are committed to providing natural gas as a sustainable fuel solution for large fleet vehicles and operations."

.During the Tuesday, Nov. 19, plenary session Linginfelter will present Carpe Diem! NOW is the Time to Embrace, Engage and Empower. SouthStar Energy Services and Pivotal LNG, a wholly owned subsidiary of AGL Resources and one of the largest producers of land-based liquefied natural gas (LNG) in the United States, will join its parent company as a sponsor of Wednesday evening’s NGV Achievement Awards Reception and Dinner. The awards ceremony will recognize industry leaders for their outstanding contributions, leadership, vision and innovation to advance natural gas as a vehicular fuel.

"Atlanta Gas Light has been in the natural gas industry for more than 150 years, and we believe our product provides excellent benefits as an alternative transportation fuel," said Linginfelter. "Opportunities like the NGVAmerica conference give us a platform to educate people about the economic and environmental benefits of the natural gas product we offer - it's American, abundant and affordable."

Atlanta Gas Light has significantly impacted the number of NGVs used throughout the city of Atlanta.  The company has cultivated a nearly 20-year partnership with the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) to support the conversion of its municipal bus fleet from diesel to compressed natural gas (CNG). Today, MARTA has 370 buses powered by CNG, with plans to convert the entire municipal fleet to natural gas by 2018.

With the support of the Georgia Public Service Commission, Atlanta Gas Light and Langdale Fuel opened south Georgia’s first public CNG station in Valdosta on Aug.16 under the AGL CNG program. AGL recently announced plans to open several new CNG stations in the metro-Atlanta area in 2014. The City of Atlanta also is investing in NGVs as it converts its sanitation fleet to vehicles that use CNG.
