Mississippi Power crews remain available; some local offices will close

Gulfport, Miss. – Due to the predicted winter weather, Mississippi Power will close some of our local business offices tomorrow, Tuesday Jan. 28.

As of now, the offices to be closed are: Hattiesburg, Laurel, Ellisville, Picayune, Poplarville, Lumberton, Purvis, Columbia, Sumrall, Richton, Waynesboro, Bay St Louis, Gulfport, Biloxi, Ocean Springs, Pascagoula, Wiggins, Lucedale and Leakesville.

The Meridian offices will remain open at this time, but that could change based on forecast data. Currently, the forecast is still calling for possible snow and ice accumulation. Please check our Facebook page for additional office closures and updates.

Even though some offices will be closed, crews and staff remain available and prepared to respond quickly and safely to restore power to any customers that might be affected by any weather-related outages. Customers can report power outages directly by calling the dedicated outage line at 1-800-ITS DARK. For all other inquiries, please do not hesitate to call the customer service line at 1-800-532-1502.

If customers experience a power outage, Mississippi Power’s online Outage Map can be accessed using a phone, tablet or laptop anytime to allow customers to track utility crews as they work to safely restore power. It is important to stay safe during winter storms whether at home or outside. If you come across a downed power line, never attempt to remove it. Call Mississippi Power’s customer service line or your police or fire department to have the downed line barricaded until it can be repaired. More winter safety tips are available here.

Extreme weather conditions can contribute to unexpected expenses for customers in need.
