Mississippi Power crews assist with winter storm in Georgia

Mississippi Power has deployed a storm team of 101 personnel (75 line crew and 26 support), from the Coast, Pine Belt and Meridian areas, to assist Georgia Power with winter storm restoration.

The crews are stationed about 75 miles southeast of Atlanta where the majority of the outage reports include broken poles and limbs/trees on power lines. As with every aspect of the business, the storm team's focus is on safety and power restoration.

Mississippi Power crews have recently been called to assist in the restoration effort after winter storms in Arkansas and Texas, and just two weeks ago, Pensacola. In 2012, they travelled to Maryland and several northeastern states after Hurricane Sandy made landfall.

Mississippi Power, a subsidiary of Southern Company (NYSE: SO), produces safe, reliable and environmentally responsible energy for more than 186,000 customers in 23 southeast Mississippi counties. Recognized throughout the utility industry for excellence in storm restoration and recovery efforts, Mississippi Power is the 2013 winner of the Edison Electric Institute’s Emergency Assistance Award.
