ATLANTA – March 10, 2014 – Atlanta-based AGL Resources (NYSE: GAS) has announced the promotion of Jim Kibler to senior vice president of external affairs and public policy. In his newly expanded role Kibler will continue to shape the company's overall public policy initiatives, coordinate policy development, and direct Congressional relations, federal agency interaction, and state and local government affairs. Kibler, 50, also leads the economic and community development activities for one of the nation’s largest natural gas companies impacting 4.5 million customers in 1,100 communities in Georgia, Illinois, Virginia, New Jersey, Tennessee, Florida and Maryland, as well as the company’s wholesale services and midstream businesses in Texas, California and Louisiana. “Jim’s strategic vision and leadership have been instrumental in the execution of solid public policies in several of the states we serve. His expertise and his ability to work with federal and local governments across our footprint have resulted in good outcomes for our company, our customers and the natural gas industry as a whole,” said Hank Linginfelter, executive vice president, AGL Resources Distribution Operations. Kibler began his career with AGL Resources in 2005, and has assumed leadership roles of increasing responsibility. Most recently, he served as the vice president of external affairs and public policy. Prior to joining AGL Resources, Kibler practiced law, focusing on regulatory law and governmental relations with an emphasis on energy, telecommunications and other regulated industries. He also served as special counsel to the Commonwealth of Virginia on various matters. Kibler earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Virginia and his law degree, with honors, from the University of Richmond.
