Registration opens for Mississippi Power’s Exploration Energy Summer Camp

Gulfport, Miss. – As we begin to enjoy warmer weather and students start thinking about summer break, parents can rest assured knowing that Mississippi Power will again offer Exploration Energy Summer Camp at partner locations across our service area.

Through fun, hands-on experiments, participants investigate different forms of energy, how energy is converted from one form to another and how energy flows through systems. Students will also explore energy sources that power the nation, ways to save energy at home and school and conventional and alternative energy sources.

“The camp is heavily focused on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) exercises and we work closely with the hosting partners to ensure exercises are both fun and informative,” Community Development Representative Ann Holland said. “Our goal is to empower young minds to energize their future and explore the excitement of energy.”

This year, four separate camps will be held throughout the company’s service territory to encourage students to explore the excitement of energy and STEM. Curriculum and experiments will vary by location.

“This is the third year we’ve offered these summer camps, and they seem to get more popular every year. Students come home and tell their friends all about the fun experiments which makes them want to attend next summer.”
