ATLANTA – April 2, 2014 – Georgia Power has announced several changes in leadership in its East Region, including the Augusta area. Effective immediately, Fran Forehand, currently Metro North region manager, will replace Truitt Eavenson as East region vice president. Eavenson will assume the role of vice president of governmental and regulatory affairs, based at the company’s Atlanta headquarters.  

In her new role, Forehand will be responsible for overseeing the company’s operations in the East Region, including more than 155,000 customers in Augusta and surrounding communities. Prior to her current position as Metro North region manager, including Gwinnett, Forsyth, north Fulton and DeKalb counties, she served as Georgia Power land acquisition manager with responsibility for securing property rights for the placement of distribution, transmission and generation facilities statewide.

Forehand began her Southern Company career at Alabama Power in 1991 as an engineering co-op student and later served as an engineer in Distribution. Since joining Georgia Power in 1996, she has served in various other leadership roles, such as metro area and middle Georgia transmission manager; maintenance center supervisor and maintenance and reliability supervisor. Forehand holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Alabama and a MBA from Augusta State University.

Eavenson succeeds Jim Fletcher, who recently accepted a leadership position with Georgia Power’s sister company Gulf Power.  In his new role, Eavenson will be responsible for leading Georgia Power’s state governmental efforts, including managing the company’s issues and filings before the Georgia Public Service Commission (PSC).

Eavenson began his career with Georgia Power in 1984 as a distribution engineer and has served in various leadership roles such as operating supervisor for Madison, Winder, and Northern Region; Metro East Region power delivery manager; fleet operations manager; state legislative affairs manager and others. He holds a bachelor’s degree in agricultural engineering from the University of Georgia and a MBA from Georgia State University. He is also a graduate of the Harvard Business School Program for Management Development.
