Georgia Power offers customers savings of 25 to 50 percent on energy efficient lighting in April
ATLANTA, April 3, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Georgia Power announced today that, throughout the month of April, residential customers will receive instant savings of 25 to 50 percent on ENERGY STAR® certified compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs) and LEDs at participating The Home Depot stores in Georgia. Qualifying products will be marked with a Georgia Power label and customers will receive immediate savings at the register with no coupons or mail-in rebates necessary, courtesy of Georgia Power. The promotion is valid through April 30, 2014, while supplies last, with quantities per customer limited to 16 bulbs. In addition to the instant savings on the cost of the bulb, customers will enjoy energy savings from more efficient lighting for years to come. ENERGY STAR certified CFLs provide bright, warm light while using up to 75 percent less energy, generating up to 75 percent less heat and lasting up to 10 times longer than standard lighting. In fact, replacing a 100-watt incandescent bulb with a 23-watt compact fluorescent bulb can save up to $30 in energy costs over the life of the bulb. One of the newest forms of energy efficient lighting, ENERGY STAR certified LEDs consume up to 75 percent less energy than standard incandescent bulbs and can last up to 25 years. In addition to this high level of efficiency and durability, LEDs offer tremendous design flexibility in both residential and commercial applications. Georgia Power is also encouraging customers to take advantage of no-cost recycling of old or broken CFLs at The Home Depot locations statewide. Through a continued partnership with The Home Depot, the company sponsors in-store recycling bins, creating the state's most widespread recycling program for CFLs and bringing convenient recycling within reach of most households.
