Gulf Power restores power to nearly 58,000 customers

Gulf Power Company has restored power to nearly 58,000 customers as of 9 a.m. this morning.

Less than 1,000 customers are still without power, primarily in Escambia and Santa Rosa County, due to the widespread damage caused by the storm event that came through Northwest Florida.

“Even with difficult working conditions, our experienced crews were able to restore power quickly and safely throughout our service territory,” said Jeff Rogers, Gulf Power Communications manager. “We were also able to immediately bring in help from our sister utilities, which allowed us to move even faster to restore power.”

More than 300 linemen and more than 100 support personnel from other utilities arrived to help Gulf Power with restoration efforts. This includes crews from Mississippi Power, Alabama Power, Georgia Power, and Oncor, a utility located in Texas that Gulf Power assisted in December for an ice storm.

“This has been an intense storm event for the entire area,” said Rogers. “We continue to be thankful for our customers' patience while our crews have worked hard to help get them back to their normal routines as fast as possible.”
