Georgia Power opens new Customer Resource Center
State-of-the-art facility showcases the many advantages of electrotechnologies
ATLANTA, May 5, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Georgia Power announced today the recent opening of a new Customer Resource Center at the company's North Shallowford operating headquarters in Atlanta. The Resource Center is a state-of-the-art, LEED-certified, experiential facility that offers business and commercial customers a hands-on learning experience about the many benefits of electric end use products. The first-of-its-kind facility showcases the advantages of electrotechnologies through the demonstration of a variety of products including electric transportation, the latest in electric cooking technologies, energy efficient electric appliances, manufacturing and industrial uses, such as motors and heating technologies, and much more. Converted from existing Georgia Power office space, the Resource Center is designed to equip the company's customers with the tools and information they need to improve productivity through energy efficiency, identify ways to better manage the use of electricity in their businesses and interact with the latest in all-electric products and applications. In addition, the center will serve as a training resource for Georgia Power employees, as well as industry allies and associations. From the groundbreaking in mid-2013, the Resource Center took less than a year to complete. The facility represents a more than $1 million investment from Georgia Power and also includes $500,000 in contributed equipment and materials from trade allies and partners. "We designed and built this new facility in response to our customers' continued requests for a 'one-stop shop' that demonstrates energy efficiency programs, the benefits of electric end use products and how our resources can provide solutions and increased productivity for their businesses," said Mike Hazelton, senior vice president of marketing for Georgia Power. "The Resource Center brings all of this under one roof and will serve as a fantastic resource for our customers and employees for years to come."
