AGL Resources Employees Dedicate their Energy to a Week of Volunteer Events
More than 50 service projects to be completed across nine states, May 12-18

ATLANTA - May 8, 2014 - AGL Resources employees across nine states will roll up their sleeves to complete more than 50 volunteer projects as part of the company's inaugural AGL Resources Volunteer Week, May 12-18.

Our Energy Matters serves as the theme to commemorate the week of events that will include a wide range of activities from community cleanups to home rehabilitations. Volunteer Week is an extension of one of the company's core values, Generosity of Spirit, which encourages employees to engage in their communities.

The AGL Resources family of companies - Atlanta Gas Light, Chattanooga Gas, Florida City Gas, Virginia Natural Gas, Elkton Gas (Md.), Elizabethtown Gas (NJ), Nicor Gas (Ill.), Sequent Energy, Pivotal Home Solutions and Pivotal LNG - will participate in projects that focus on the need of each community.

A sampling of the projects includes the following:

  • AGL Resources employees will perform an outdoor cleanup along the Atlanta Beltline in Atlanta on May 16; a food drive also will be held to support the Atlanta Food Bank.
  • Atlanta Gas Light will "Treat our Troops" by baking and packaging homemade goods to send to military service members on May 12-13; on May 14, employees will support Meals on Wheels by delivering hot food to seniors in Conyers, Ga.; and a cleanup will be held at Wildwood Park in Marietta, Ga.
  • Florida City Gas will support Meals on Wheels and deliver meals to seniors in Brevard, Fla. on May 16.
  • Chattanooga Gas employees will participate in the March of Dimes Walk in Eastridge, Tenn. on May 18.
  • Nicor Gas and Pivotal Home Solutions employees will perform 20 service projects on May 17 benefiting 15 communities in northern Illinois during the 18th Annual Volunteer Day.
  • Elizabethtown Gas employees will walk together in the Relay for Life in support of the American Cancer Society in Phillipsburg, NJ on May 17 - 18.
  • Pivotal Home Solutions employees will host a beach cleanup in Portsmouth, N.H. on May 17.
  • Sequent Energy will continue their support of Cristo Rey Jesuit in Houston by assisting with the school's graduation ceremony.
  • Virginia Natural Gas employees participate in two cleanup activities to benefit the EQUI-KIDS Therapeutic Riding and Keep Virginia Beautiful programs in Virginia Beach and Newport News, Va. on May 16.
