Alabama Power announces leadership changes for Birmingham area
Alabama Power Company announces two leadership moves designed to maintain the strong relationship between the company and its customers in the Birmingham area. Foster L. Ware has responsibility over company operations and external affairs in the city of Birmingham as well as in north, east and west Jefferson County. Ware also will oversee four of Alabama Power’s business and customer service offices in the Birmingham area: the Metro Central office near downtown Birmingham, the East Jefferson office in the Huffman area of Birmingham, and offices in Gardendale and Hueytown. Ashley Robinett has been named area manager for the south region of the company’s Birmingham Division, with responsibilities in south Jefferson and Shelby counties. In addition to her operational and external affairs responsibilities, Robinett will oversee the business and customer service offices in Calera, Columbiana, Leeds and Pelham. Ware and Robinett begin their new roles today. “We’re excited to have Ashley and Foster in the Birmingham Division,” said Bobbie Knight, division vice president. “Their experience and proven skills make them great additions to our team. It supports our commitment to provide the best service we can to our 457,000 customers in the Birmingham region.” Since late 2011 Ware has served as Legislative Affairs manager for Alabama Power, where he was responsible for monitoring state legislation and its potential impact on customers. He joined the company earlier that year as an Industrial Account manager. Prior to his arrival at the company, Ware served as director of Cardiovascular Solutions at Sg2-LLC and as Government Affairs manager at Merck & Co. in Illinois. Ware holds an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Tuskegee University. At Tuskegee he was named to the 1993 Coca-Cola Division II All-Academic Football team. He served on Tuskegee University’s Board of Trustees from 2004 to 2008 and is active in Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. Ware and his wife, Linda, have four children. Robinett most recently served as assistant to Mark Crosswhite, the chairman, president and CEO of Alabama Power. Before then, she served as assistant to the executive vice president and COO of Southern Company, Alabama Power’s parent company. She joined Southern in 2001 as an engineer, providing analyses for the company’s wholesale subsidiaries. In 2005 she joined Southern’s fuel services team, managing emission allowance procurement and other strategic environmental issues for the company’s fleet of power plants. From 2006 until 2012, Robinett served in a variety of managerial roles for Southern Company and Southern Power. Her responsibilities included strategic planning and the oversight of complex financial, capital investment and risk-analysis projects. Robinett received her bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering with a minor in business from Auburn University. She remains involved with the university through 100 Women Strong, an initiative supporting female students in the College of Engineering. She also serves on the board of directors for Easter Seals of Greater Birmingham. Ashley and her husband, Ryan, have two children.
