The Alabama Business Charitable (ABC) Trust Fund has awarded Nonprofit Energy Efficiency Program (NEEP) grants totaling more than $55,000 to seven organizations across the state:

• Hand in Paw, Birmingham
• SafeHouse of Shelby County, Pelham
• Etowah County Community Services, Gadsden
• East Central Alabama United Cerebral Palsy, Anniston
• United Way of Etowah County, Gadsden
• ARC of Alabama, Montgomery
• Joseph F. Weldy Home For Children, Winfield.

NEEP grants are offered through the ABC Trust Fund, which was created in 1992 by Alabama Power. The Trust’s primary mission is offering energy assistance to low-income families by partnering with community agencies to help pay monthly utility bills. The trust also offers other programs helping nonprofit organizations – particularly those involved in health and human services – save on energy.

“These grants help nonprofit organizations make their facilities more energy efficient and save money, which in turn allows them to better serve their clients. We are happy to partner with them,” said John Hudson, ABC Trust executive director.  

Since 2007, the ABC Trust has awarded more than $600,000 in energy efficiency grants to more than 65 different nonprofit organizations.
