City of Moundville receives Alabama Power Foundation Gateway grant
The Alabama Power Foundation has awarded the City of Moundville with a $2,000 Gateway grant to provide materials for signs to welcome visitors into the city. Gateway’s goal is to revitalize communities by funding well-designed entrances to greet visitors and potential new businesses. “We always want visitors to know when they are entering Moundville,” said Mayor Tony Lester. “The Alabama Power Gateway grant will allow us to create and improve signage within the city as well as give Moundville a positive identity.” In its third year, the Gateway program has already awarded over $100,000 through more than 50 grants in central and southern Alabama. “We are proud to partner with the City of Moundville to make the community welcoming for residents and visitors,” said Susie Harris, Alabama Power manager responsible for Moundville. “Through the Gateway program, we are able to enhance our communities and promote civic pride.” Gateway is one of several community grant programs funded by the Alabama Power Foundation.
