Lake Neely Henry drawdown set
Permit required for construction projects within reservoir boundaries

Alabama Power has set tentative dates of Oct. 3-6 for a water-level drawdown on Lake Neely Henry.

The drawdown will give residents and contractors better lakebed access for permitted construction projects. The company expects heavy interest from residents in lakeshore use permits for shoreline construction during the planned reductions.

Residents can call the Neely Henry Shoreline Management Office in Ragland at 205-472-0481 to apply for a lakeshore use permit before they begin construction.

Here are the details for the Lake Neely Henry drawdown:

Alabama Power biologists – in coordination with the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service – will also use the gradual lowering to survey mussel and fish populations in lower Big Canoe Creek.

Because weather conditions can affect the drawdown schedule, residents and contractors are encouraged to visit Alabama Power’s automated Reservoir Information System at 1-800-LAKES11 (1-800-525-3711) or www.apcshorelines.com for updates.

Additional permitting guidelines and contact information for permits can be found on the Shoreline Management page at www.apcshorelines.com

Individuals with boats and other water-related equipment and facilities should always be alert to changing conditions on Alabama Power reservoirs and be prepared to take the necessary steps to protect their property.
