Executive management changes announced at Southern Company subsidiary

ATLANTA, Dec. 11, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Southern Company Chairman, President and CEO Thomas A. Fanning today announced two changes to the executive management team of subsidiary Southern Company Services, Inc.

Theodore J. McCullough has been named chief production officer and executive vice president of Southern Company Services' operations organization.McCullough previously served as executive vice president of engineering and construction services. In his new role, McCullough will be responsible for the operation of all of the Southern Company system's fossil and hydro generation assets.

Paula M. Marino will succeed McCullough as executive vice president of engineering and construction services for Southern Company Services' operations organization. Previously senior vice president of engineering and construction services, Marino will be responsible for new generation and environmental strategy development, major project design and construction execution, technology due diligence, and operations and maintenance support.

Both changes take effect immediately.

McCullough, 51, joined the Southern Company system in 1987. He has held leadership positions at coal-fired, gas-fired and hydroelectric power plants in Georgia and Alabama. Prior to overseeing engineering and construction services, McCullough served as senior vice president and senior production officer of subsidiary Alabama Power and as vice president and senior production officer of subsidiary Gulf Power.

A registered professional engineer, McCullough holds bachelor's degrees in electrical engineering and mathematics from Vanderbilt University and a master's in business administration from Auburn University.

Since joining the Southern Company system in 1993, Marino, 45, has held various positions in distribution, transmission, fossil-hydro generation and nuclear generation. Her past roles have included vice president of engineering for subsidiary Southern Nuclear and assistant to the president of Southern Company's generation organization. She has also managed multiple departments in engineering and construction services, including planning and engineering services, design, and environmental and retrofit projects for subsidiary Alabama Power.

Marino earned bachelor's and master's degrees in electrical engineering from Auburn University. She holds professional engineering licenses in Alabama, Georgia and Mississippi.
