Georgia Power names Kenny Coleman senior vice president of Marketing

ATLANTA – Georgia Power announced today that Kenneth E. “Kenny” Coleman has been named senior vice president of Marketing, elected by the company’s board of directors. Coleman, currently chief information officer of Southern Company and senior vice president of Southern Company Services, replaces Mike Hazelton who has been named vice president of customer services for Georgia Power’s sister company, Mississippi Power. In his new role, Coleman will be responsible for overall customer services, pricing & planning, renewable development, sales and utility relations. Coleman will continue to build on Georgia Power’s commitment to developing products and services which meet the changing energy needs of Georgians such as My Power Usage, a customized online tool which helps customers better manage their energy use, and the recently introduced Georgia Power mobile app. Coleman joined Southern Company in 1999 as a residential marketing manager at Alabama Power. Since that time, he has held leadership positions in retail marketing, external affairs, wholesale marketing, customer service and marketing and division operations, including serving as vice president of Alabama Power’s Southern Division. In his most recent role as chief information officer of Southern Company and senior vice president of Southern Company Services, Coleman led more than 1,100 employees in information technology strategy development, operations and delivery across 120,000 square miles and all Southern Company subsidiaries. A native of Jersey City, N.J., Coleman holds a bachelor’s communication from the University of New Haven in West Haven, Conn., and a MBA from the University of Alabama. He was named among the 2011 “Who’s Who in Black Atlanta” and is involved in numerous professional and local organizations, including the Verizon Utility Customer Advisory Board; the Edison Electric Institute’s CIO Executive Advisory Council; the Georgia CIO Leadership Association; the Technology Association of Georgia; the American Association of Blacks in Energy; and 100 Black Men of Atlanta.
