Alabama Power employees hit the road again in annual Run for the Reason
Cross-state trek supports American Cancer Society

What:  Employees from Alabama Power will participate in a two-and-a-half day, 350-mile continuous run across Alabama to raise funds and awareness for the American Cancer Society. Buffalo Rock and the Alabama Power Foundation are the event’s presenting sponsors this year.

Overview: Three teams of seven runners will take turns running through the state beginning Thursday, April 16 at the Georgia line and ending Saturday, April 18 at Dauphin Island. Each runner covers about 20 miles over the duration of the event. Throughout its 12-year history, Run for the Reason has raised over $300,000 for the American Cancer Society.

Thursday, April 16

             5:20 a.m. – Runners begin journey at Georgia/Alabama state line on Highway 78.

9 a.m. – Runners travel between Anniston and Heflin.

1 p.m. – Runners arrive in Talladega.

4:30 p.m. – Runners leave Childersburg.

10 p.m. – Runners arrive in Clanton.

                            Friday, April 17

1 a.m. – Runners leave Maplesville.

5 a.m. – Runners arrive in Selma.

Noon – Runners arrive in Camden.

4 p.m. – Runners arrive in Thomasville.

                             Saturday, April 18

12 a.m. – Runners leave McIntosh.

6:45 a.m. – Runners arrive in Mobile.

1 p.m. – Runners arrive at finish line at Fort Gaines,

Dauphin Island.
