Volunteers set to clean Lake Jordan April 25

What:   The 16th annual Renew Our Rivers Lake Jordan cleanup is Saturday, April 25. Volunteers should report between 7:30 a.m. and 8 a.m. at Bonner’s Point off Highway 11. Volunteers should wear long pants, boots and a long-sleeved shirt. Minors must have a chaperone or permission slip to participate. The cleanup will finish at noon. Lunch will be provided for volunteers.

This Renew Our Rivers cleanup is coordinated by members of the Lake Jordan Home Owners & Boat Owners Association and Alabama Power.

Overview:   Volunteers for Renew Our Rivers, one of the Southeast’s largest river cleanup campaigns, have collected nearly 14 million pounds of trash and debris since the program’s inception in  2000. This year, 31 cleanups are planned through November on the Alabama, Black Warrior, Cahaba, Chattahoochee, Coosa, Mobile and Tallapoosa rivers.

Directions:  From I-65, take Exit 205, and travel east on Highway 31 for approximately 13 miles. Turn left on AL 143. In just over 6 miles turn left on AL 111. As you travel through Holtville/Slapout, watch for Bonner's Point Road and turn left. Go to the end of the road, approximately 1/4 mile.
