Georgia Power names Jason Cuevas West Region Vice President

ATLANTA – May 8, 2015 – Georgia Power announced today that Jason Cuevas has been named vice president for the company’s West Region, including Columbus, LaGrange, Americus and Manchester. In this role, Cuevas will be responsible for power delivery, engineering, customer service, sales, economic and community development and external relations. Cuevas, who has served as vice president of Corporate Communication for Georgia Power in Atlanta since February 2011, will assume his new role effective May 9. He will report to Craig Barrs, executive vice president of Customer Service & Operations. “Jason’s track record of ensuring consistent communication with Georgia Power customers, employees and various external stakeholders will enhance our work in Columbus and communities across the region,” said Barrs. “His commitment to our company’s values and broad understanding of our business and the energy landscape will complement Georgia Power’s strong region operations.” As vice president of Corporate Communication, Cuevas directed the company’s strategic communication and brand management initiatives, including advertising and marketing communication, creative and digital media, employee and executive communication, and media relations. Prior to joining Georgia Power, he served as manager of media relations for Southern Company, where he led development and implementation of strategic communication programs on the regional, national and international levels. During his career, Cuevas has served in a variety of domestic and international public/governmental and economic development roles for Edison Electric Institute, EarthLink Inc., Mirant Corp. and the New Orleans-based MetroVision Economic Development Partnership. He holds a bachelor’s in communication from Loyola University New Orleans and an MBA from the University of Georgia. A graduate of Leadership Atlanta, Cuevas serves on the Georgia Press Education Foundation board of trustees and the University of Georgia Board of Visitors.
