"We are honored to be recognized for the work we do every day to provide our customers with safe, reliable electricity," said Nicole Faulk, vice president of the Customer Services Organization. "Continued investments in our system infrastructure help, but at the end of the day, it's the commitment all our employees feel toward putting our customers first that makes the difference."

Mississippi Power has been recognized throughout the utility industry for excellence in storm restoration and recovery efforts as well as a leader in reliability, customer service and safety. In fact, Mississippi Power had its best year ever for distribution reliability in 2014.

Mississippi Power's System Average Interruption Duration Index, or SAIDI, was 55.7 minutes in 2014. SAIDI is the average duration of an outage for each customer served.

System Average Interruption Frequency Index, or SAIFI, is the average number of interruptions that a customer would experience. In 2014, Mississippi Power's SAIFI result was 0.798.

All midsized utilities operating electric delivery networks in North America are eligible for consideration for the award. The selection of provisional recipients is based primarily on system reliability statistics that measure the frequency and duration of customer outages. After provisional recipients are selected, each company undergoes an on-site certification process which provides an independent review and confirmation of the policies, processes and systems used to collect, analyze and report a company's reliability results.

"Reliability is ultimately one of the most tangible means to customer engagement," said Jeff Lewis, PA Consulting Group's ReliabilityOne™ Program Director. "The utilities that are proactively and accurately exchanging information with their customers are separating themselves from the pack with respect to customer engagement. Customers are demanding real-time accurate information regarding outage response, and that is at the core of what we as an industry should be doing. Mississippi Power has demonstrated that it understands the essence of customer engagement and is consistently providing superior service."
