ATLANTA, Oct. 26, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- In a joint filing with the Virginia State Corporation Commission today, Southern Company (NYSE: SO) and AGL Resources (NYSE: GAS) requested regulatory approval of the companies' proposed merger. AGL Resources is the parent company of Virginia Natural Gas, a regulated utility providing natural gas distribution services to approximately 287,000 customers in Virginia Beach, Va.
