Georgia Power distributes energy efficiency kits with local food banks statewide this holiday season
Company provides 9,000+ energy efficiency kits help Georgians save money and energy

ATLANTA, Dec. 18, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Georgia Power is partnering with the Georgia Food Bank Association this holiday season to distribute more than 9,000 energy efficiency kits across the state. Boxed kits include a refrigerator thermometer, LED light bulb, window insulation materials, an advanced power strip that eliminates standby power and other energy efficiency tools.

Through a partnership with the Georgia Food Bank Association, Georgia Power is helping families across Georgia save money and energy. The company is distributing more than 9,000 boxed energy efficiency kits including a variety of energy efficiency tools and information in local communities.

"This partnership with our state's food banks is just one of the ways that we work to help our customers manage their energy and save money," said Michele Wagner, director of energy efficiency for Georgia Power. "Temperatures drop and energy usage increases during the holidays, making it a great time to focus on creating an energy efficient home for the entire year using the tools in this kit."

The Georgia Food Bank Association assisted the company with distribution of the kits to regional food banks to benefit local communities. Food banks from Dalton to Atlanta to Savannah received the energy efficiency kits.

"Georgia Food Bank Association's partnership with Georgia Power ensures a statewide reach to the eight regional food banks," said Danah Craft, Executive Director for Georgia Food Bank Association. "The donation of thousands of energy efficiency kits provides tools and resources to bring down energy costs which will save money for our clients and make a difference in their lives."
