Southern Telecom Announces Network Fiber Initiative in Southeast US
ATLANTA - October 16, 2017 – Southern Telecom, Inc. (STI), a subsidiary of Southern Company, announces new underground fiber routes and colocation facilities are being planned and constructed as part of a network fiber strategy across the Southeast. Existing cables will be replaced with new underground fiber featuring increased capacity, higher fiber counts and state-of-the-art technology to enable more flexibility for STI’s current and future customers. STI is constructing and evaluating several new routes around the Southeast. There are over 600 miles currently under construction, primarily as part of joint projects.
