Georgia Power seeks power supply proposals for 30-year contract

ATLANTA - Nov. 6, 2007 – Georgia Power is seeking power supply proposals for 30-year contracts from qualified bidders to meet its requirements for base load electric generating capacity beginning March 1, 2016 and for 30-year contracts beginning March 1, 2017. Georgia Power issued Request for Proposals (RFPs) Nov. 6, 2007 to acquire 800 to 1,600 megawatts (MW) of new base load supply-side resources beginning March 1, 2016. The Company intends to commit to 500 to 800 MW of base load capacity to be available by March 1, 2016, and a cumulative two-year total of 800 to 1,600 MW of base load capacity to be available by March 1, 2017. A single bid proposal in this RFP must be from a facility with a capacity of 250 MW or greater. Bids must be submitted by Feb. 1, 2008. Bidders interested in submitting proposals under this solicitation can obtain necessary information and are required to pre-qualify by accessing the web site of the Georgia Public Service Commission Independent Evaluator (Accion Group) at www.gpscie.com. All communications with bidders will be conducted through the Independent Evaluator. Therefore, potential bidders are prohibited from contacting the company. Pursuant to the rules of the Georgia Public Service Commission (GPSC), the GPSC is using an Independent Evaluator and the Independent Evaluator website in conducting the RFP process.
