Volunteers set to clean Lake Wedowee Oct. 21-23
What: The Renew Our Rivers Lake Wedowee (R.L. Harris) cleanup is Wednesday through Friday, Oct. 21-23 on the Tallapoosa River. Volunteers will meet on the Highway 48 Boat Ramp at 8 a.m. for a safety briefing. The cleanup will conclude at 2 p.m. followed by a lunch for the volunteers. This Renew Our Rivers cleanup is coordinated by Alabama Power and the Lake Wedowee Property Owners Association. Overview: Volunteers for Renew Our Rivers, one of the Southeast’s largest river cleanup campaigns, have collected nearly 14 million pounds of trash and debris since the program’s inception in 2000. This year, 31 cleanups are planned through November on the Alabama, Black Warrior, Cahaba, Chattahoochee, Coosa, Mobile and Tallapoosa rivers.
