What: Alabama Power will host its first Refrigerator Art contest celebration on Tuesday, Oct. 27, at the Alabama Power Metro Central Business Office. The event is sponsored by the Alabama Power Appliance Sales and Service Division.

Fifteen elementary school finalists from Birmingham City Schools will be honored at the event and three winners of the art competition will be announced. Over the past month, more than 750 students from 21 schools have submitted artwork. The families of the three winners and their schools will receive a new refrigerator or appliance (up to $1,000 value), courtesy of Whirlpool and the Alabama Power Appliance Sales Center. In addition, the Alabama Power Foundation will donate $1,000 to the school libraries of the three winning students. All 15 student finalists will receive a gift certificate to Books-A-Million and the 12 runners-up will also receive a free pizza from Davenport’s Pizza Palace in Mountain Brook.
