Alabama Power announces leadership changes

Alabama Power today announced several changes in the company’s leadership. The changes follow last week’s announcement that Steve Spencer, Alabama Power executive vice president, will be stepping down to become president of the nonprofit Economic Development Partnership of Alabama.

Greg Barker, Alabama Power senior vice president for Marketing and Economic Development, has been elected executive vice president responsible for Customer Services.

John O. Hudson III, vice president of Public Relations and Charitable Giving, has been elected senior vice president for Marketing and Business Development.

Gordon Martin, senior vice president and general counsel, has been named senior vice president responsible for Corporate and Administrative Services.

Matt Bowden, vice president for Environmental Affairs, has been elected senior vice president and general counsel.

Susan Comensky has been elected vice president with responsibility for Environmental Affairs. She most recently served as vice president of External and Regulatory Affairs at Southern Power Company.

Stephanie K. Cooper has been elected vice president of Public Relations. A former director of Corporate Communications for Southern Company, she most recently served as a senior attorney at Georgia Power Company.

The changes are effective immediately.

“These individuals are strong leaders. They bring tremendous experience and knowledge to their new roles,” said Mark Crosswhite, Alabama Power chairman, president and CEO.
“The changes put us in a strong position to move forward – to meet the growing challenges to our business and the evolving needs and desires of our customers,” Crosswhite said.
