Alabama Power Foundation awards seven Elevate grants
Alabama nonprofits receive $10,000 this year, $5,000 next year
The Alabama Power Foundation has awarded seven Elevate grants to nonprofits across the state. The Elevate grant program empowers organizations by providing funds for community-centered projects and capacity-building workshops, and to facilitate networking opportunities within the nonprofit community. Since launching in 2014, the program has helped strengthen 34 nonprofits across the state with Elevate grants. The grant packages for each recipient include a $10,000 grant in 2016 and a $5,000 challenge grant in 2017. Grant recipients will also participate in workshops through 2017 to help them grow and find ways to expand their positive impact in the community. “The multidimensional aspect of the Elevate program really sets it apart from other programs,” said Myla Calhoun, president of the Alabama Power Foundation. “The capacity-building workshops and networking opportunities give us a chance to become more familiar with our grantees and their work. But more importantly, they give our grantees the opportunity to build relationships and partnerships with one another.” The 2016-2017 Elevate grantees are:
