The Alert at Farley Nuclear Plant was terminated Nov. 1 at 11:40 p.m. CT.

It was declared Nov. 1 at 5:43 p.m. CT because ammonia vapors were detected within a vital area in Unit 1. The leak was later identified as coming from a valve in the auxiliary building.

There was no radioactive release and no employees were injured. Plant employees not involved in the Alert were released.

Unit 1 is in a planned refueling outage. Unit 2 continued operating at 100 percent power.

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) as well as state and local agencies were notified of the declaration.

Trained personnel coordinated with federal, state and local officials to address the situation.
