Lake Thurlow water levels to be lowered May 11-17

Alabama Power will lower water levels on Lake Thurlow, located on the Tallapoosa River, beginning May 11.

Water levels are being lowered over three days to elevation 278.6 feet in order to allow personnel to safely survey the Thurlow Dam powerhouse and spillway. The lake is expected to reach 278.6 feet on May 14.

The survey work is scheduled to take place from May 15 through May 17. The reservoir is scheduled to begin refilling on May 18 with an estimated date of May 21 for the lake to return to full pool.

Individuals with boats and other water-related equipment and facilities should always be alert to changing conditions on Alabama Power reservoirs and be prepared to take the necessary steps to protect their property.
