Moore elected Power Delivery senior vice president

The Alabama Power board of directors has elected Scott Moore senior vice president of Power Delivery, effective May 20.

Moore served as vice president of Transmission since 2012. In his new role he will lead both the Transmission and Distribution organizations, with responsibilities that include the maintenance and reliable operation of an electric system with more than 1.5 million poles and towers and more than 84,000 miles of power lines spread across 45,000 square miles.

Moore’s new position adds duties previously held by Danny Glover, vice president of Distribution, who recently announced his intention to retire following 40 years of dedicated service.

“Scott has for many years played a key role in ensuring reliable service for Alabama Power customers. He also is a respected leader in the broader electric utility industry,” said Mark Crosswhite, Alabama Power chairman, president and CEO. “Scott is well prepared to help us navigate the opportunities and challenges as our business continues to evolve.”

Moore joined Alabama Power in 1988 as a University of Alabama co-op student, working in the company’s Birmingham Division. He began his full-time career with the company in 1993, working in positions of increasing responsibility in Birmingham, Mobile, Enterprise, Montgomery, Eufaula, and at Alabama Power’s sister company, Gulf Power.

He has a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Alabama. He is a registered professional engineer.

Moore serves on the Executive Committee of the Engineering and Operation Division for the Southeastern Electric Exchange and is an active member of the Association of Edison Illuminating Companies. He also serves on the Dean’s Engineering Advisory Board for the University of Alabama and is actively involved with the United Way of Central Alabama.
