Davis Love III & IV Bring a Father/Son Perspective to Alabama Power's Junior Clinic Tuesday at Barbasol Championship in Opelika
Birmingham, Ala. - July 14, 2017 - Major champion Davis Love III and his son Dru will be hosting a golf clinic for more than 150 children from the Opelika/Auburn area on Tuesday, July 18 at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at Grand National. The Junior Clinic is sponsored by Alabama Power and the Barbasol Championship. Father and son will compete in this year's Barbasol Championship with 130 other PGA TOUR professionals. During the interactive clinic, the children will learn about the game of golf and how it promotes core values, including honesty, integrity, responsibility, courtesy, sportsmanship and respect. The Alabama Power Junior Clinic will be at 10 a.m. on the Driving Range at RTJ Grand National. The Barbasol Championship will be played July 20-23. “Alabama Power is proud to support the Junior Clinic, which will showcase the important lessons that golf can provide our children,” said Leslie Sanders, vice president of Alabama Power’s Southern Division. “We’re excited to have David Love III and David Love IV with us to help host the event.” Davis Love III With 21 wins on the PGA TOUR, including the 1997 PGA Championship, Davis Love III will be inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in September. Love won the prestigious Players Championship in 1992 and 2003. He was captain of the U.S. Ryder Cup teams in 2012 and 2016. Love won the Payne Stewart Award in 2008. The Payne Stewart Award is presented by Southern Company. He attended the University of North Carolina and resides in Sea Island, Georgia. Love turned professional in 1985 and joined the PGA TOUR in 1986. Off the golf course, he enjoys fishing, reading novels, hunting and golf course architecture. Davis Love IV (“Dru”) Dru Love will be making his fourth start on the PGA TOUR at the 2017 Barbasol Championship, and third as a professional. In his first TOUR start, he missed the cut as an amateur at the 2015 RSM Classic. In two professional starts this season, he missed the cut at the U.S. Open and Greenbrier Classic two weeks ago. Dru’s father, 21-time PGA TOUR winner Davis Love III, caddied for his son at this year’s U.S. Open. Love IV played collegiately for the University of Alabama Crimson Tide.
