Capacity-building program to award grants for nonprofits

The application period for the Alabama Power Foundation’s 2018 Elevate grant program is now open. Nonprofits across the state are encouraged to apply.

Elevate grants empower nonprofits by funding community-centered projects, educational workshops and networking opportunities.

Since the program’s launch in 2014, 41 nonprofits across the state have received Elevate grants to strengthen their organizations.

This year the foundation will award four grants of $17,500 each. In addition to grant dollars, recipients will participate in a workshop later this year to help them grow and find ways to expand their positive impact.

Online applications will be accepted through Aug. 24 and grant recipients will be announced in September. The Alabama Power Foundation will host grantees at the Elevate grant workshop in November.

Since its creation in 1989 with funds donated by shareholders, the Alabama Power Foundation has supported Alabama communities, educational institutions and nonprofits with nonratepayer dollars through more than 20,000 grant and scholarship awards.
