Gulfport, Miss. – Mississippi Power today made its annual fuel filing with the Public Service Commission, requesting a three percent decrease, or $4.14 per month, for a residential customer using 1,000 kWh of electricity.

“Mississippi Power is committed to providing industry-leading customer service and performance at rates below the national average,” said Mississippi Power President and CEO Anthony Wilson. “We are pleased to deliver savings through today’s filing while providing the safe and reliable energy our customers expect.”

If approved, this decrease in fuel costs – driven primarily by lower natural gas prices – will be reflected in customers’ bills beginning with the first billing cycle of February. Each year the Commission adjusts Mississippi Power’s prices up or down to reflect changes in the cost of fuel used by the company to generate electricity. Mississippi Power does not earn a profit on fuel costs, which is reflected dollar-for-dollar in customers’ bills.
