Renew Our Rivers volunteers to clean Lay Lake
What: The Renew Our Rivers Lay Lake cleanup is March 24-30. Cleanups will take place in several locations during the week. Volunteers should contact the coordinator for targeted areas. The week will conclude with the community cleanup at Beeswax Park on Saturday, March 30, from 8 a.m. to noon, followed by a picnic lunch. Overview: Volunteers for Renew Our Rivers, one of the Southeast’s largest river cleanup campaigns, have collected more than 15.5 million pounds of trash and debris since the program’s inception in 2000. This year to celebrate the 20th year, 30 cleanups are planned through November on the Alabama, Black Warrior, Cahaba, Chattahoochee, Coosa, Mobile and Tallapoosa rivers. Turn right onto Chelsea Road and continue onto County Road 47/North Main Street. Once in Columbiana, turn left onto East College Street/State Route 25 Business, followed by a slight right onto County Road 28/Ferry Road. Take a left onto Alabama 145 North.
