Media invited to tour longleaf pine forest restoration project
What: Media is invited to tour forested grassland and prairie restoration work on the Alabama River. This work is made possible through a grant from the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation. When: Thursday, Nov. 21 at 8:30 a.m. Who: Tour guides are Claude Jenkins, Alabama Wildlife Federation; and Lee Cummings, Drummond property and habitat manager. Where: Below are directions from downtown Selma. Take Highway 22 west for 8.3 miles; Turn left (south) onto Dallas County Road 9 for 3.4 miles; Turn right onto Cahaba Road for 2.6 miles; Arrive at entrance gate on left. GPS coordinates: 484925.00 E, 3572438.00 N We recommend sunscreen, sunglasses, hat, bug spray, comfortable clothes and hiking shoes. Sites could be dirty/muddy, depending on weather.
