What: The first Renew Our Rivers cleanup of 2020 is Saturday, Feb. 29, where Locust Fork meets Bankhead Lake. Volunteers should report at 8 a.m. and wear rubber boots, long pants, hats, insect repellent and sunscreen. T-shirts will be provided to all volunteers. Minors must have a chaperone to participate. The cleanup will end at noon, with hot dogs and drinks provided for volunteers.

This Renew Our Rivers cleanup is coordinated by Alabama Power, Birmingham Budweiser, Birmingham Coca-Cola, Golden Flake, Ghost Train Brewery, Cahaba Brewery, Sweetwater Brewery, Eckrich, Eleven 86, Piggly Wiggly, Simmons Sporting Goods and Jefferson County Roads and Transportation.

Directions: From Birmingport, go past the Warrior River Water Authority on Taylor’s Ferry Road, then take a right onto Pine Ridge Road. Go past Riverside Church, and park at Howton’s Camp, 350 Pine Ridge Road.
