Volunteers set to clean Lake Eufaula March 7
What: The annual Renew Our Rivers cleanup for Lake Eufaula is Saturday, March 7. Volunteers should report to the Old Creek Town recreation area from 7:30 a.m. to 8 a.m., and wear rubber boots, long pants, hats, insect repellent and sunscreen. All volunteers should bring emergency contact information, and minors must have a chaperone to participate. Lunch will be provided for volunteers, and door prizes will be handed out. The cleanup will end at 11:30 a.m., with recognition for the art contest winners. This Renew Our Rivers cleanup is coordinated by the Friends of Lake Eufaula, Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and Alabama Power. Overview: Volunteers for Renew Our Rivers, one of the Southeast’s largest river cleanup campaigns, have collected almost 16 million pounds of trash and debris since the program’s inception in 2000. After you pass the ballfields you will see the road to the boat launch area. There is a dock at the launch, and you will see a dumpster there.
