Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Southern Company announced the launch of its new electric transportation e-commerce Web site at the national Electric Transportation Information Conference.
With the new Web site, Southern Company once again demonstrates, through its Georgia Power and Alabama Power subsidiaries, its leadership in electric vehicle (EV) technology.
This new Web address marks the first time everything relating to electric vehicles is available in a single location, said Don Still, electric transportation manager at Georgia Power.
For instance, visitors will be able to immediately locate electric vehicle charging stations anywhere within the Southern Company service area. Not only is the information updated every evening, it can be downloaded to a personal digital assistant (PDA) for easy reference when a driver is on the road. This is the first and only site that provides that service, noted Still.
The site is a one-stop resource where people can also purchase electric vehicle chargers and accessories, order charger service, download owners manuals and find many other types of assistance.
This Web site is the only place that offers sale of EV chargers online, said Bob Hawkins, Alabama Power marketing services manager. All types of chargers, both inductive and conductive, are available.
We at Alabama Power are excited to be a part of this new e-commerce event, Hawkins added. It provides the only single-source reference for everything related to on-road light-duty electric vehicles, either through detailed information or links to other sites.
People are invited to visit www.southerncompanyev.com for a test drive.
