ATLANTA – Chuck Huling has been named director of Georgia Power`s environmental affairs department, replacing Chris Hobson, who was recently named Southern Company environmental affairs senior vice president.

In this position, Huling will direct the company’s environmental stewardship and compliance programs to meet or surpass all environmental laws and regulations. “His direct line experience working with key environmental issues facing the company has prepared him to do this job,” said Bill Archer, external affairs executive vice president. “His strength in the environmental field more than enables him to accept these new responsibilities.”

Since joining Georgia Power in 1974, Huling has held a number of positions in the areas of power plant construction and project management, environmental affairs, corporate communication, regulatory affairs, marketing, consumer affairs and external affairs. Most recently, he served as environmental manager of air programs. In this position, he directed the company’s efforts to address air issues and comply with environmental laws and regulations.

Huling, a native of Atlanta, graduated from Georgia Tech with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering. He is a registered professional engineer in the state of Georgia, a life member of the Georgia Engineering Foundation and a board member of the Institute for Georgia Environmental Leadership.

He and his wife Becky have two children, Steven and Kala, and reside in Jonesboro.
