The National Coal Council has given Dr. William B. Harrison, retired senior vice president of technology management at

Southern Company Services, an award for exemplary service. The council, a federal advisory committee to the Secretary of

Energy, May 15 recognized the extensive work Harrison has done and continues to do for the council. The sole purpose of

the council is to advise, inform and make recommendations to the Secretary of Energy on matters relating to coal.
