Southern Company has named Ellen N. Lindemann senior vice president of human resources.

Lindemann, 47, will be responsible for all aspects of human resources planning and delivery, including compensation & benefits, labor relations, training and development, and staffing and recruiting. Most recently, she served as vice president of product development and implementation in the company’s marketing organization.

Lindemann joined Southern Company in 1978 as a junior engineer. Since that time, she has served in a number of different organizations, including human resources, power generation, region operations and marketing. From 1997 to 2000, she served as director of the human resources department’s East Region.
