BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Feb. 27, 2009 - The National Weather Service is forecasting heavy rainfall across the state today and into Saturday, with a heavy concentration of that rainfall predicted to impact Alabama Power reservoirs. As a result, flood control operations, including spill-gate operations at certain dams along the Coosa and Tallapoosa reservoirs, should be expected. Lake levels could rise as a result of those flood control operations. Alabama Power will closely monitor conditions on the lakes and manage the resources carefully. Individuals with boats and other water-related equipment and facilities should always be alert to changing conditions on Alabama Power reservoirs and be prepared to take the necessary steps to protect their property.
