BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - March 25, 2009 - The National Weather Service is forecasting heavy rainfall across the state starting today and continuing into Saturday. The rain is predicted to impact Alabama Power reservoirs. Flood-control operations, including the use of spill gates at Alabama Power dams along the Coosa and Tallapoosa reservoirs, should be expected, and lake levels could rise as a result of the heavy rains. Alabama Power will closely monitor conditions on the lakes and manage the water resources carefully. Individuals with boats and other water-related equipment and facilities should always be alert to changing conditions on Alabama Power reservoirs and be prepared to take the necessary steps to protect their property.
